RAGGA

 


with Noémie and Laura

Ragga is an enriched street dance, an Afro-Jamaican mix of hip-hop movements that take up certain attitudes from Afro and jazz and street dance.

Ragga dance is characterised by the undulations and/or bounces of the pelvis and torso.

Dress: sporty and comfortable loose clothing, sports shoes with non-marking soles. No street or sports shoes that have been worn outdoors.

  •     Wednesday: 18:00-19:00, the over 11s - level 2 with Sam
  •     Wednesday: 19:00-20:00, the 14+ years old - level 3 with Sam

INDIAN DANCE
 with Elodie

 

A mixture of Bombay and Hollywood, Bollywood refers to the dances and songs found in Indian cinema. Bollywood is inspired by classical dance with elements of Jazz, Salsa, Baladi and even Hip Hop. For the sake of body coordination, the Indian dance course is intended for older children atpd. 6 years old and/or from the 1st year of primary school.

Dress: Loose fitting, barefoot or socks/non-slip shoes

  •     Wednesday: 17:00-18:00 for 6-8 year olds
  •     Wednesday: 18:00-19:00 for 9-12 year olds
  •     Wednesday: 19:00-20:00 Teenagers

JAZZ

with Jennifer, Sandrine, Laura, Marine and Kumi.

Jazz dance has its origins in African dance; rhythmic and dynamic, today it represents the basic technique in the world of show biz (theatre, cinema, television, video clips). It is the bridge between classical and contemporary dance.

Jazz-awakening for 5-7 year olds: designed to awaken children to dance in a playful and progressive way to modern and rhythmic music. Coordination of movements, body expression, rhythm work and posture are worked on. Choreography becomes more and more complex as the year progresses.

Dress: comfortable and sporty loose clothing, ideally close to the body (e.g. legging-t-shirt). Bare feet/socks

CLASSICAL
with Sandrine, Marine, Elisa B, Celia en Kumi.

Born in the 16th century, classical dance symbolises "grace, elegance and precision". It combines suppleness and support and requires rigorous coordination of all parts of the body. Classical dance is the basis of many sports disciplines. The pointe class is intended for advanced level students and is accessible from the age of 12.

Classical-awakening: initiation to the first steps of classical dance in order to acquire good basic notions. Rigour, flexibility and posture are worked on.

Wake-up outfit, 1 & 2: tunic with pink or white skirt, pink tights, pink slippers, hair tied in a bun.

Dress 3, teenagers & adults: black tunic, black skirt, pink tights, pink slippers, hair tied in a bun. Same outfit for pointe shoes, pointe shoes (don't hesitate to ask the teacher).

The classes are given by Sandrine, Marine, Elisa B, Celia and Kumi.

HIP-HOP
 with Sam, Noémie,Nico & Maxime.

Coming from the street, this discipline encompasses a variety of different styles. The first styles launched in the 1970s were uprock, breaking and funk. We now find Afro and Latino rhythms. Hip Hop can be interpreted in different ways, on rhythm or phrasing or on the meaning of words with the Lyrical Hip Hop that Dylan offers us.

MINI DANCE

 with Cecilia & Sarah, Laureline

You learn gently to manage your body, to move around, to manage space in relation to yourself and others and to move to music. It allows the child to acquire rhythm, a good stature and works on his balance. This course serves as an introduction to multiple disciplines such as Classical, Jazz and/or Hip Hop.

Dress: t-shirt with leggings to begin with, tunic with or without pink or white skirt later, pink tights, pink slippers, hair tied up.

  •     Wednesday: 14h00-15h00 - (3-4 years old) with Jennifer.
  •     Wednesday: 15:00-16:00 - (4-6 years old) with Jennifer
  •     Saturday: 9.00-10.00 am -(3-4 years old) with Celia

TAP DANCING
 with Kumi

Tap dancing has its origins in traditional Irish dances.

Our children's tap dance classes are a combination of basic steps, precise body movements and strength of strikes, which are very much in evidence in Broadway musicals. The work is done to Jazz, Pop-Rock and world music. Will your child become the next Fred Astaire or the next Ginger Rogers?

Dress: sporty and comfortable loose clothing, tap shoes (don't hesitate to ask the teacher)

THEATRE
 with Morgane

It is never easy to speak in public and to know how to express oneself, to occupy the space with one's presence on stage and one's voice. The exercise can become even more complicated if you have a reserved naturalness or if French is not your mother tongue. This course is aimed at all children who want to learn how to express themselves in public, to act on stage, to have fun putting themselves in the shoes of amazing characters, etc... So let's all take the stage!

Dress: dress code: street clothes, shoes with non-marking soles, not worn outdoors.

BREAK DANCE
 with Youness

Dance style born in the streets of New York in the 70s. It is characterized by jerky body movements, ground figures and acrobatic figures. Inspired in part by martial arts such as Capoera, break dance often takes the form of a "battle" between young people. The older ones supervise the younger ones.

Dress: sporty and comfortable loose clothing, sports shoes with non-marking soles. No dress shoes or sports shoes that have been worn outside.

GIRLY
 with Nico

Female dance style, combining different techniques such as hip hop, voguing or street-jazz, ... but above all favouring attitude exercises in the movements and marked pauses. One develops self-confidence, the self-confidence to express oneself through attitudes and the principle of "aestheticism" in each movement performed.

Dress: comfortable and sporty loose clothing, sports shoes with non-marking soles. No dress or sports shoes that have been worn outdoors.

  •     Monday: 6.30pm-7.30pm, the +12 years old - open level

CONTEMPORARY
with Noémie

Contemporary dance mixes different styles of dance at the dancer's choice with the primary objective of arousing a very specific emotion in the spectator. The dance and the dancers' bodies are put at the disposal of the feeling, emotion or sentiment that the dancer wishes to express.

Dress: Free sporting & comfortable clothing, ideally close to the body (e.g. legging-t-shirt). Barefoot/socks.

  •     Thursday: 4.45pm-5.45pm, the +8 years old.
  •     Thursday: 6.45pm-7.45pm, for children over 12 years old.

ZUMBA KIDS
 with Christian

Zumba is also for children! Christian is waiting for you every Sunday with your family for 1 hour of FUN to the sounds of Afro-Latin rhythms. The course is for children from 4 to 12 years old but also for their parents. Each child can be accompanied by a parent of their choice. An opportunity for mum and dad to share their child's activity.

Dress: sporty and comfortable loose clothing, sports shoes with non-marking soles. No town or sports shoes that have been worn outside.

  •     Sunday 2.00pm-3.00pm: children 4-6 years old - open level
  •     Sunday 15:00-16:00: children 7-12 years old - open level

1 class: 8€ a Parent/child duo - Options of an annual or half-year subscription possible.


How to register with Rythm & Dance?

Under 18 years old

Registrations at Rythm & Dance take place every year from June to mid-November and from mid-December to 31 January for the second semester.

We offer 2 types of subscriptions:

  •     Annual from September to June
  •     Half-yearly from September to December and January to June

Before enrolling, you can buy a trial lesson ticket at the reception desk for 10€ and try out the course of your choice.

This trial ticket does not guarantee a place on the course afterwards.

The prices are fixed and not for the course. It is therefore more than interesting to start well at the beginning of the season or period than to enrol during the period. The price of the subscription will not be adapted.

Does your child wish to try a course before enrolling?

It's possible! Please come to the Poseidon reception desk 15min before the start of the course to buy a 'trial lesson' ticket at the price of 10€.

You will be asked to show it to the teacher in order to follow the course.

Please keep this ticket as proof. The sum of 10€ can be deducted from your subscription if your child registers.
Adult trial lesson: It is possible to pay for one session at a time.
